After the untimely demise of Rasheswar Saikia Barbayan, the founder Principal of Sangeet Sattra on October 2000, a group of cultural loving people and cultured personalities of Assam introduced ‘RASESWAR SAIKIA BARBAYAN SATTRIYA BOTA’ in the year 2009 to mark the respect of late Rasheswar Saikia Barbayan, the founder Principal of Sangeet Sattra for his untiring effort to establish Sattriya Dance, Music and Bhowna with all round development and his contributions towards the Sattriya culture. From the year 2013 Sangeet Sattra continued the award to commemorate and offer their honor and homage to the founder Principal of the Institute. This coveted award is given to a person who has dedicated his/her life for all round development of Indian Classical Art Form. The award comprises of a trophy, a citation, a set of anga-bastra and a cash purse.
