Sangeet Sattra was the 1st formal and systematic institute to conduct examination in the field of Sattriya Music from the year 1974. In response to the increase in numbers of students year by year and with that the demand for carrying out the examination by disciplined means, Sangeet Sattra formed the Sangeet Sattra Pariksha Parishad, the examination board, in the year 1972. This body holds a ‘Acharjya’, an Examination Controller, a Secretary and with four Members to carryout various activities related to examination of Sangeet Sattra Pariksha Parishad. In every 2 years, the body is newly formed.
Under the programme of expansion and publicity,
the Execution Board of Sangeet Sattra had decided to accord affiliation to the
institutes/schools, those imparting training in accordance to the syllabus
prepared by Sangeet Sattra from 1976 onwards . As per this decision with some
preconditions Sangeet Sattra accorded affiliation to the institute / schools
taking certain amount of fee and in every three years the affiliation has to be
renewed. The affiliated institutes are bound to impart training as per academic
syllabus of Sangeet Sattra and mandatory to take part in any programme or
workshop organized by Sangeet Sattra. At present more than 200 schools from
different parts of Assam, New Delhi, Mumbai and USA are affiliated to Sangeet
Sattra.
